Optimal binning method
WebThe optimal binning is the optimal discretization of a variable into bins given a dis-crete or continuous numeric target. We present a rigorous and extensible mathematical programming formulation to solve the optimal binning problem for a binary, contin-uous and multi-class target type, incorporating constraints not previously addressed. WebThis paper provides a method for applying optimal binning techniques for enabling condensed storage of in-situ monitored load histories. Optimal bin-widths relations are used in conjunction with non-parametric density estimation techniques, namely the histograms and kernels. The approach is then demonstrated.
